Jeffray Feliciana

I began my PhD at Erasmus University Rotterdam in March 2025 under the supervision of Janna Cousijn, Mieke Schulte, and Emese Kroon. Prior to this, I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at Saint Vincent College, USA, and then completed two Masters’ degrees at Arcadia University, USA: Counseling Psychology, and International Peace and Conflict Resolution. Since then I have been working as a psychologist in the USA and in Aruba.

I have worked as a practitioner in the the field of clinical psychology and specialize in the treatment of addiction, trauma, and personality disorders. This practical experience further augmented my interest in the process of addiction, particularly the effect of traumatic experiences and negative life events on the development of substance use disorders.

My research examines the effects of early adversity, substance use perceptions, and emotional functioning, and their contribution to risk and resilience for mental health and substance use problems. It is my hope to utilize these findings to create culturally sensitive interventions and strengthen collaboration between researchers and professionals in the Netherlands and Dutch Caribbean.
