Our investigations of smartphone addiction will focus the concrete definitions and assessments of smartphone addiction across cultures (i.e. western and eastern culture). Furthermore, we focus on the longitudinal relationship between smartphone addiction, interpersonal relationships and the cognitive biases (e.g. attentional biases and approach biases) related to smartphone addiction. In terms of neurobiological mechanisms of smartphone addiction, we will study abnormalities in brain structure (e.g. lateral orbitofrontal cortex) and altered resting-state brain activity (e.g. default mode network) in people with smartphone addiction.
